Developmental Mites

This is the entry level program at North Park, providing an introduction to hockey, with a strong emphasis on developing skating skills. The primary goal of the program is to create a fun experience for the children and build a foundation for a lifelong love of hockey.

Ages

2011-2014 birth years, with most of the children in the program being 2012-2013 birth years.

When

LIC-ICE: September thru early March // Bryant Park: November thru February, excluding Thanksgiving, Christmas and President’s Day Weekend. Start day at Bryant Park is anticipated to be Saturday, October 27th.

LIC-ICE and Bryant Park

Practices

LIC-ICE: Tuesday 4pm-5pm // Bryant Park: Saturday 7am-745am and Sunday 7am-745am. At Bryant Park, players have option to warm up from 645am-7am and can stay to skate after practice when the public skate opens at 8am.

Games

The Developmental Mites will typically play a game against Beaver Dam in Locust Valley in January or February, but the primary focus of Developmental Mites is skating and skills development. Fun scrimmages and games are incorporated into the regular practice sessions.

Jerseys

Our online store for North Park gear and accessories will re-open in September. Developmental Mites are encouraged to purchase the less expensive Mites uniform package. Younger siblings are welcome to wear past uniforms.

Additional Costs

Participants will need to purchase skates, helmets, pants and pads separately. North Park helmets are white, ideally with a black cage, but any helmet color is welcome in the Developmental Mites. All children are required to wear neck guards.
